Dehydrating Foods for Backcountry Camping Meals






This is the 2nd video in our camping foods series. We demonstrate how to dehydrate ground beef, brown rice, a chili, various vegetables, fruits, and how to make fruit leather. Our next videos in this series will be about how to pack foods and meals for backcountry camping and specific camping meals we make.

Bannock grilled cheese sandwich in the backcountry






Here's a great meal I stumbled across when eying up the food I packed for a trip in the Algonquin Provincial Park interior. Not sure how appealing it looks if you haven't had it before but after a week in the woods this tasty morsel gets me drooling more than my dog Maddy. Well, maybe not that much, she brings some stiff competition to the table in that department.

We show some beef jerky going into the dehydrator. The finished product is discussed along with some of our other dried foods and uses. Great for camping, backpacking or survival situations

Glacier National Park Backcountry Camping, Gunsight/Sperry Trail






A twenty-plus mile journey across Glacier National Park, from Gunsight Pass Trailhead, to Gunsight Lake, Jackson Glacier Trail, Gunsight Pass, Lake Ellen Wilson, Sperry Campground, and exiting at the Lake McDonald Lodge. August 4-8, 2009.









This is a favorite meal of mine when I go canoeing.
